Let's talk about... Our Modeca Dresses!

Welcome back to the Angelo Bridal Blog. Today we will be discussing our beautiful curve range from Modeca, available to order in sizes 16 and up. These dresses have lots of special features to help support your bust and enhance your figure, some are even available to order in different colours!

About Modeca:

Modeca is a Dutch company which has been making stunning dresses for over 70 years, starting off as a small shop which sold lace and haberdashery. Soon after, they started designing beautiful hand crafted bridal gowns and from that point on, the business has flourished and the Modeca headquarters remains in the Netherlands to this day. We hope you appreciate their #dutchdesign as much as we do!

1. True

True is by far the most attention grabbing Modeca gown in our collection. This figure hugging style is made from stretch crepe material and features a cleverly placed sequinned lace insert down the centre and back of the dress which creates an hourglass figure. The back of the dress also features a show stopping but lightweight train. Like all dresses in this collection, the bodice is boned throughout and it has a built in bra with adjustable straps to keep you secure. This dress can be worn with or without straps, according to your personal preference and comes in either ivory or ivory and mocha.

True is an ideal choice for brides who love to show off their curves and aren't afraid to be the centre of attention and lends itself well to a red carpet or black tie theme. This dress is best accessorised with a pair of sparkling drop earrings and looks amazing with our VD 140 iridescent crystal veil which emphasises the sparkle in the lace and skims the edge of the train for an elegant effect.

2. Meghan

Megan is an airy, romantic gown which features a structured lace bodice and a light tulle skirt. The lace is carefully placed along the drop waist to cinch you in and emphasise your curves. The delicate illusion straps are finished with eyelash lace and there are small buttons running down the back to meet a small train.

Meghan is a great choice for brides who love lace but hate glitter and sparkles and can be a great option for brides who have sensitive skin as the lace is very soft and won't rub against your arms. Meghan is a versatile dress which can be worn to lots of different venues but works particularly well for outdoor summer weddings as it is light enough to wear all day in the heat of the summer. Meghan looks great paired with a long, plain veil which blends elegantly into the train. When worn higher on the head the veil will create a more traditional bridal silhouette or for a modern feel can be placed into a bun with a diamanté veil topper.

3. Tilly

Tilly is a subtley elegant tulle gown with just a dash of sparkle. It features a classic sweetheart neckline, a lightweight tulle skirt with a glittery underlay and can be worn with spaghetti straps, strapless or with lacy off shoulder straps. The lace decoration on the rouched bodice is carefully placed to draw the eye to the smallest part of the waist and is finished with a small beaded belt which matches the spaghetti straps.

Tilly is for a bride that likes elements of the classic fairytale princess look but doesn't want to compromise on comfort. Think more woodland fairy than fairy princess. This gown is available in classic ivory or in ivory and beige as shown on the model. There are lots of ways to accessorise this versatile style, the beige version of the dress lends itself particularly well to rose gold jewellery and hair accessories as the underlay has a slight nude tone. As there is no lace along the edge of the train, a long, lacy veil can be added for extra drama. The leafy motifs in the lace of this dress make it a great choice for an autumn wedding and will look amazing in outdoor photos with cascades of multicoloured leaves in the background.

4. Pem

Pem is a very cleverly designed fit and flare dress with intricate glass beadwork on the lace which will give you two completely different looks in one. It has a removable button back bolero which creates an attractive illusion Bardot neckline with short sleeves. When the bolero is removed you have a totally different look with a strapless sweetheart neckline and zip back. The skirt is made from ultra light organza which has a slight shimmer in bright light and has a small plain train at the back.

Pem is an ideal choice for brides who want a more traditional look for a church ceremony and but also want a fun party outfit for later on. It is also a good option for destination weddings as the bolero can be removed if you get too hot on the day. A veil with a beaded edge will beautifully complement this dress as it will match the beading in the bodice. For a church ceremony, a double tier veil will create a more traditional bridal look. Shoes with sequins or beads will also work well with this style as the hem of the dress is plain and the shoes will create a lovely balance with the bodice of the dress.

5. Tabitha

Tabitha is a statement mermaid gown with a trendy button back and soft lace pattern. The statement lies in the cleverly placed lace in the bodice which points towards the smallest part of the waist. The lace is free from sequins, beads or glitter, creating a slightly vintage look. The sweetheart neckline allows you to show off a little cleavage whilst feeling comfortable and secure in the dress. The dress features a small train with lace appliqués throughout the tulle skirt. This dress has a soft mocha tone underneath the ivory lace, adding a subtle touch of colour but is also available in ivory for a more traditional look.

This dress lends itself well to a cabaret themed wedding with sophisticated cocktails and vintage decor. Think Dita Von Teese for your accessories, a big feathery or fur stole, birdcage veil and winged eyeliner will complete the look. As this dress has no sparkle of its own it works well with statement earrings and hairpieces (or a great big diamond ring!). The nude tones in this dress can also work well with barely-there natural makeup for a more subtle bridal look.
